Is Pittsburgh safe in 2026? Citywide numbers, empty houses, and why people still order ADT
People search is Pittsburgh safe because they want a number. The number we can cite is citywide. Pittsburgh police reported 35 homicides in 2025, the lowest since 1989, down from 42 in 2024, 52 in 2023, and 71 in 2022. Allegheny County homicides fell about 40 percent versus 2024, to 65 cases in the medical examiner count Axios published in March 2026 — the lowest since 2007. Those are citywide and countywide figures. They are not a report card on your street. We do not publish neighborhood crime rates.
Police Chief Jason Lando. Mayor Corey OConnor, sworn in January 5, 2026 after Ed Gainey. Clearance work and citywide trends do not arm your keypad. A 35-year low is not a porch camera. If a box walked off a Shadyside stoop last Tuesday, order for the door. If it did not, order for the hours you already leave. Call (412) 991-2600.
Citywide is not your hallway
Home Security Systems Pittsburgh is the local line. SafeStreets installs. ADT monitors 24/7. This site is not ADT corporate. We will not invent a burglary rate for Lawrenceville or a porch-theft rate for Squirrel Hill. Occupancy is the product: weekday empties, leftover keypads, house versus condo, cameras yes or no.
Post-Gazette and Axios are the sources for the 2025 homicide counts above. Mid-year 2025 reporting also noted other crime categories moving differently than homicide. That is why we do not turn a homicide low into a “safe neighborhood” pitch. The quote is still a ZIP and a door list.
What people actually order for
Porch packages on Shadyside and Squirrel Hill stoops. A tried door on a Lawrenceville row. A garage walk-through on a Bethel Park lot. A builder leftover keypad on a Cranberry plat. A downtown loft with board rules. Those occupancy cards live on the local guide. Crime copy does not replace them.
Weekday empties after I-376, I-279, I-79, PA-28, a PPS drop-off, a North Allegheny drop-off, or an Oakland shift — that clock is weekday empty houses. Order for those hours.
Permits and false alarms are not a scare line
Chapter 611 is $25 a year inside the city. False burglar: first two free, then escalating fees. As of 2024, unverified burglar alarms may be queued as non-priority, and a fifth documented false alarm in a calendar year can be disregarded. That is a reason to install well and use the system, not a reason to skip monitoring. Teach the household.
Mt. Lebanon, Monroeville, Cranberry, and Fox Chapel confirm from the ZIP. We do not invent a dollar. ADT monitoring is separate from that paperwork. Chapter 611 versus suburb desks is the permit article.
Who this line serves, and who it does not
Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Erie, and Scranton are not this line. Pittsburgh KS is not this line. We schedule in the City of Pittsburgh and the close-in towns we name. Confirm the ZIP. Same-Day/Next-Day on PA – Pittsburgh — we still confirm the window on the call.
Packages start at $53.99/mo*. $99 install on many plans*. SafeStreets installs. ADT monitors 24/7. Call (412) 991-2600. Pittsburgh homeowners can trust a SafeStreets security system monitored by ADT. A 35-year low is news. An empty house at 10 a.m. is the order.
What we will not say on this page
We will not invent a neighborhood burglary rate. We will not turn a 35-year homicide low into a reason to skip a keypad. Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Erie, and Scranton are not this line. We will say occupancy, ZIP, leftover keypad, cameras yes or no, Chapter 611 versus suburb desks, and the monthly number starting at $53.99/mo*. That is the honest page. Call (412) 991-2600.
How we use 2025 numbers on a sales page
We cite citywide and countywide figures with sources: Pittsburgh police 35 homicides in 2025, lowest since 1989; Allegheny County 65 homicides in the medical examiner count Axios reported, about 40 percent down versus 2024, lowest since 2007. We name Chief Jason Lando and Mayor Corey OConnor. We do not invent a Shadyside rate, a Lawrenceville rate, or a Cranberry rate. Occupancy is still the reason to order.

Order for occupancy, not for a headline
35 homicides citywide in 2025. Lowest since 1989. County homicides down about 40 percent versus 2024. Chief Jason Lando. Mayor Corey OConnor. Those sentences are true and sourced. They do not arm a keypad in Shadyside, Lawrenceville, Mount Lebanon, or Cranberry. Occupancy does: weekday empties, leftover keypads, porch packages, garage walk-throughs, builder leftovers. Chapter 611 is $25 a year inside the city. Suburb desks confirm from the ZIP. Packages start at $53.99/mo*. Call (412) 991-2600. Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Erie, and Scranton are not this line.
Cite the year, then order for the door
2025 city homicides: 35, lowest since 1989. County homicides down about 40 percent versus 2024. Chief Jason Lando. Mayor Corey OConnor. Then count doors. Then call (412) 991-2600. We do not publish neighborhood crime rates. Occupancy is the product.
